Keeping Your Pet Properly Hydrated This Summer A healthy dog should drink, on average, between one-half and 1 ounce of water per pound of body weight each day, while a typical cat may require 5 to 10 ounces of water daily. Remember: Puppies, kittens and senior pets need more water than adult dogs.
